Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking a professional Medical Coder to assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for professional billing in a physician-based environment. The remote role supports Radiology, Oncology and Anesthesia/Pain departments with high accuracy and compliance.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in HIM/Medical Coding or equivalent, CPC/CCA/CCS-P certifications, and coding experience across CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10, plus familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid policies and revenue cycle

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HIM, Medical Coding, or related field; or GED with 2 years coding experience.
• CPC, CCA, or CCS-P certification is required.
• Coding experience in Radiology, Oncology, or Anesthesia/Pain Management.
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10; Medicare/Medicaid and payer policies.
• Experience with coding/revenue cycle systems and documentation review.

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnosis and procedure codes for professional billing encounters.
• Review moderately complex cases with multiple diagnoses or documentation gaps.
• Utilize coding and revenue cycle systems to resolve discrepancies.
• Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy.
• Participate in coding quality assurance and ensure compliance with guidelines.
