Job summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a remote Medical Coding Auditor to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance of professional coding services. You will review patient records, collaborate with providers, coders, and compliance staff, and support correct reimbursement.

The role includes chart reviews, audits, and education to improve coding quality and regulatory adherence. Strong hcpcs/icd-10 knowledge and AAPC/AHIMA certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of post-secondary education in a business or medical-related field preferred.
• Two years of experience in medical billing or coding office required; medical management experience preferred.
• Coding certification through a nationally recognized organization such as AAPC or AHIMA required (CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC-H).
• Minimum of two years of experience working in a medical billing, coding, or healthcare revenue cycle environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular audits of medical coding to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding systems.
• Evaluate coding practices against payer guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
• Document audit procedures, results, and issues in a clear and organized manner.
• Provide education and training to healthcare professionals regarding coding standards and documentation improvement.
