Job summary

Fairview is seeking a Coder 2 to join its Professional and Emergency Department Coding team. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position with benefit eligibility and the flexibility to work from a home-based setting, with availability for one Saturday per month.

The ideal candidate will have experience in professional and/or ED coding, with preference for anesthesia coding/billing background. Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS and encoder systems is required.

Qualifications

• Certificate program in Coding or AA/AS in HIM or certificate with 1-3 years of healthcare experience.
• 1 year of coding experience.
• Basic knowledge of Windows-based software; Epic and Microsoft Teams.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/CCS-P/CCP-H/COC or similar certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses, treatments and procedures.
• Extract required information from EMR and enter into encoder/abstracting system.
• Resolve questions about diagnosis, procedures, or chart content through research.
• Meet productivity and quality standards and complete assigned projects.
• Ensure timely billing and reimbursement and adherence to escalation policy.
