Job summary

LMH Health is seeking a Coder I to accurately code, abstract, and process claims from medical records in a remote setting after onboarding. The role includes data quality work and interaction with the HIMS team to ensure compliant coding and timely submissions.

The position requires living in Kansas or Missouri, with occasional on-site meetings. Strong attention to detail, coding knowledge, and communication skills are essential for success in this remote role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of AHIMA-accredited coding programs (e.g., CPC, RHIT, RHIA).
• Credentialed through AAPC or in progress.
• Remote Work/Work-from-Home after onboarding; live within KS or MO and attend on-site meetings, as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient records to identify principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Use encoding systems to code according to ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS guidelines.
• Assist backlog in focus-coding groups as needed.
• Collaborate with medical staff to obtain documentation for optimal hospital payment and accurate data input.
• Prepare workload reports and participate in continuous quality improvement studies.
• Abstract data for discharge data submission and ensure data accuracy for KHDS.
• Communicate and advise hospital staff on coding and DRG assignments.
