Job summary

San Ysidro Health is seeking a PACE Medical Coder to review clinical documentation and verify ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes in accordance with official guidelines. The role supports hybrid work with remote focus and quarterly on-site meetings at the San Diego area location.

The ideal candidate has CPC or CCS credentials, at least one year of medical coding experience, and strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and coding procedures.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of medical coding experience required with a CPC or CCS.
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Current Procedural Coder (CPC) Certification from AAPC or AHIMA required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and HCC coding and abstracting procedures.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

• Review chart progress notes and patient documentation for diagnoses and services.
• Verify diagnostic codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS classifications.
• Communicate with providers to ensure proper coding and reimbursement.
• Identify chargeable items and apply correct CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Apply sequencing guidelines for diagnosis and main procedures per ICD-10 guidelines.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy and physiology to interpret codes.
