Job summary

Unity Hospice is seeking a Part-Time Medical Billing Specialist to join our remote Wisconsin team. This role handles Medicare billing, claims processing, and payment follow-up for hospice services with strict attention to accuracy and compliance.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of medical billing experience, familiarity with Medicare Parts A & B, and proficiency in EMR systems (Epic preferred). Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience.
• Part A and Part B Medicare billing experience required.
• 3-5 years of customer service experience.
• Experience with CMS rules and regulations for both professional and facility settings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit patient and insurance billing for hospice services.
• Complete full billing process and timely claim submission.
• Submit prior authorizations as needed.
• Enter Medicare and Medicaid Notices of Election and provide backup support for terminations and revocations.
• Reconcile EOBs and follow up on balances.
• Maintain aging reports and investigate balances in a timely manner.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, payment variances, disputes, reversals, and appeals.
• Coordinate with insurance carriers, patients, facilities, and other parties to resolve account issues.
• Provide telephone support regarding claim status and basic coverage questions.
