Job summary

YO AI Labs is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineering Technicians to support an AI benchmark project. You will conduct hands-on testing, collect data, interpret results, and diagnose failures in a remote setting.

Applicants should have 4+ years of mechanical testing experience, proficiency with instrumentation and data acquisition, and strong documentation skills. This contractor role offers flexible remote work and task-based compensation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on mechanical testing or technician experience in lab, shop, or production settings.
• Associate degree or relevant trade/technical credential preferred.
• Experience with instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition systems, and prototype testing.
• Ability to document test procedures, results and failure modes accurately.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Create realistic technician tasks involving test setup, instrumentation, data collection, and failure diagnosis.
• Develop technical datasets such as test logs, calibration records, sensor outputs, and failure reports.
• Define accurate solution pathways and next-step recommendations based on test data.
• Create detailed 35+ point grading rubrics covering instrumentation, data interpretation, and failure analysis.
• Document test procedures, observations, results, and diagnostic findings clearly.
• Ensure tasks reflect real-world professional complexity rather than textbook scenarios.
