Job summary

LONGHORN STAFFING SOLUTIONS seeks an experienced Mechanical/ Piping/Facilities Estimator to support estimating activities for oil & gas facility and energy infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of estimating experience in industrial/oil & gas sectors and can develop detailed cost estimates, take-offs, and bid proposals while coordinating with operations, engineering, and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of estimating experience in industrial, oil & gas sectors.
  • Proven ability to estimate mechanical and piping scopes.
  • Experience with oil & gas facilities such as compressor stations, pump stations, or meter stations.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labor requirements.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, and drawings.
  • Experience with bid documentation and cost estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed, competitive estimates for oil & gas facilities and mechanical projects.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, P&IDs, isometrics, bid documents, and other technical information.
  • Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and other project requirements.
  • Analyze project plans and specifications to identify scope, quantities, exclusions, assumptions, and potential risks.
  • Solicit pricing from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Develop bid proposals, cost breakdowns, estimate summaries, and supporting documentation.
  • Work closely with engineering, project management, operations, and business development to understand project scope and execution requirements.
  • Identify potential estimating risks, gaps, constructability issues, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Maintain and update estimates as project designs, specifications, schedules, or scope requirements change.
  • Participate in bid reviews and provide estimating support during the proposal process.
  • Assist with post-award estimating activities, including change-order pricing, cost analysis, and project cost control.

Position Overview

An established and growing EPC and energy infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical / Piping / Facilities Estimator to support estimating activities for oil & gas facility and infrastructure projects.


This position is ideal for an estimator with experience in mechanical construction, process piping, industrial facilities, pump stations, meter stations, compressor stations, or similar energy infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate, competitive estimates and bid proposals while working closely with operations, project management, engineering, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.


Candidates with a strong mechanical/piping estimating background who understand the broader requirements of oil & gas facilities construction are encouraged to apply. Experience with EPC projects is highly valued.


What You'll Be Estimating

The facilities/mechanical scope may include:



  • Pump stations

  • Compressor stations

  • Meter stations

  • Process and aboveground piping

  • Mechanical equipment

  • Valves, fittings, and piping components

  • Equipment setting and installation

  • Piping fabrication and installation

  • Welding and tie-ins

  • Hydrotesting

  • Facility modifications and expansions

  • Industrial mechanical construction

  • Related civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation interfaces


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop detailed and competitive estimates for oil & gas facilities and mechanical/piping projects.

  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, P&IDs, isometrics, bid documents, and other technical information.

  • Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and other project requirements.

  • Analyze project plans and specifications to identify scope, quantities, exclusions, assumptions, and potential risks.

  • Develop bid proposals, cost breakdowns, estimate summaries, and supporting documentation.

  • Work closely with engineering, project management, operations, and business development to understand project scope and execution requirements.

  • Identify potential estimating risks, gaps, constructability issues, and opportunities for cost savings.

  • Maintain and update estimates as project designs, specifications, schedules, or scope requirements change.

  • Participate in bid reviews and provide estimating support during the proposal process.

  • Assist with post-award estimating activities, including change-order pricing, cost analysis, and project cost control.

  • Maintain accurate historical cost information and estimating data.

  • Monitor market conditions, labor rates, material pricing, and subcontractor costs to support competitive bids.

  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and procedures.


Qualifications


  • 5+ years of estimating experience in industrial, oil & gas, energy infrastructure, mechanical construction, or process piping.

  • Demonstrated experience estimating mechanical and/or piping scopes.

  • Experience with oil & gas facilities such as compressor stations, pump stations, meter stations, processing facilities, or similar infrastructure is highly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of industrial construction methods, materials, labor requirements, and installation practices.

  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment information, and other construction documents.

  • Experience preparing detailed quantity take-offs and complete project cost estimates.

  • Experience with construction estimating software and Microsoft Office.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work effectively with project managers, operations personnel, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
