Frontier AI Lab is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician contractor to support remote development of AI benchmarks. You will design technician workflows, orchestrate test setups, collect data, and diagnose failures to feed real-world models.

This role emphasizes hands-on instrumentation, data acquisition, and thorough technical documentation. Remote collaboration is essential, with high standards for reproducibility and clarity across lab and production environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years hands-on lab, test or production experience in mechanical engineering tech.
• Associate degree or trade credential in mechanical engineering technology.
• Experience with instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition systems, and prototype testing workflows.
• Proven ability to document test procedures, outcomes, and failure modes in detail.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and diagnosing failures.
• Familiarity with CSVs and spreadsheets for data handling.

Responsabilités

• Design and author authentic technician workflow tasks reflecting real-world challenges.
• Source, synthesize, and construct technical datasets from lab scenarios.
• Define solution pathways including interpretation of test data and next steps.
• Develop 35+ item rubrics to evaluate instrumentation logic and data interpretation.
• Document procedures, observations, and diagnostic findings with high precision.
• Ensure evaluation tasks meet realism standards for professional practice.
