Job summary

Mercor connects elite creative and technical talent with leading AI research labs. This is a remote contract for a Mechanical Engineer in the United States, starting immediately for 4–6 weeks with 20+ hours per week. Tasks are paid on a task basis at first, then hourly for the remainder of the project.

You will evaluate AI-generated mechanical designs and drawings, assess engineering rigor and specifications, review scenarios, and provide expert feedback to improve AI outputs.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience in roles such as Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, or Project/Test Engineer.
• Ability to commit 20+ hours per week to a 4–6 week contract.
• Strong written English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated mechanical designs, drawings, and specs for quality and accuracy.
• Compare AI-generated responses based on engineering rigor and design soundness.
• Review mechanical scenarios to provide expert feedback on equipment design and system troubleshooting.
• Leverage real-world expertise to improve AI model outputs.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines and optimize AI system performance.
