Job summary

AfterQuery is seeking a remote, project-based Mechanical Engineer with 2–4 years of hands-on CAD and mechanical design experience. You will work on tasks spanning mechanical design, engineering analysis, technical documentation, and product development support over 2–3 weeks with an expected commitment of 10–20 hours per week.

This role offers exposure to real-world engineering challenges, the chance to contribute to a YC-backed startup, and a pay rate up to $100/hour for well-executed projects.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in at least one major CAD platform and ability to produce detailed designs.
• Ability to work independently on technical tasks and document decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Create, review, and iterate on mechanical designs and CAD models.
• Develop detailed drawings, BOMs, and documentation to manufacturing standards.
• Conduct engineering analyses including stress, tolerance, and DFM assessments.
• Support product development from concept through prototype to production-ready design.
• Document design decisions, assumptions, and methodologies clearly.
