The role requires a BS/MS in mechanical engineering, 5+ years in robotics or mechatronics, expertise in SolidWorks/CATIA/Fusion360, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design with robotics, automation or mechatronics.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and advanced simulation tools; strong understanding of mechanisms, actuators, sensors, and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of robotic systems from concept to detailed design and implementation.
• Develop complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings.

About the Role

This fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing the mechanical aspects of our innovative robotic systems. This includes conceptualizing new designs, creating detailed CAD models, performing advanced simulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring cutting-edge products to life. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of robotic systems, from concept generation through to detailed design and implementation.
• Develop complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using industry-leading software.
• Conduct advanced engineering analyses, including structural, thermal, and dynamic simulations (FEA/CFD), to ensure optimal design performance.
• Specify materials, components, and manufacturing processes, considering factors like cost, weight, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and control system engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design reports, test plans, and manufacturing instructions.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation phases, analyzing results and iterating on designs as needed.
• Proactively identify and resolve design challenges, ensuring manufacturability and assembly efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, with significant experience in robotics, automation, or mechatronics.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion360) and advanced simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Strong understanding of mechanisms, actuators, sensors, and control systems relevant to robotics.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a rigorous engineering mindset.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
• Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
