Job summary

Turing, headquartered in San Francisco, seeks a US-based Domain Expert in Mathematics to contribute senior-level expertise as an independent contractor. This fully remote engagement targets faculty who want to influence AI evaluation and data curation for frontier models.

You will lead structured reviews, develop mathematical evaluation frameworks, and advise client teams on complex problems. The role offers flexible hours (about 15 hrs/week, with peaks) and NDA-required collaboration.

Qualifications

• Faculty appointment at Assistant Professor level or higher at a US institution.
• Minimum 3 years post-doctoral or post-degree experience in academia or research.
• Active involvement in peer-reviewed mathematics publications.
• Strong written articulation of mathematical reasoning suitable for peer review.
• Ability to lead and document structured consensus processes.
• Exposure to AI evaluation or related digital research is desirable.
• Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate mathematics.
• Familiarity with current mathematical standards and methodologies.
• Disciplined adherence to project protocols and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead senior-level reviews on complex mathematical problems and datasets.
• Facilitate structured resolution of reviewer disagreements.
• Contribute to development of mathematical evaluation frameworks for AI models.
• Provide expert advisory hours to client teams evaluating model outputs.
• Author guideline-aligned commentary on cases and problems as needed.
• Provide subspecialty consultation where appropriate.
