The U.S. Coast Guard in New Orleans seeks an Environmental Compliance Specialist (GS-1801-13) to lead VIDA-related environmental compliance initiatives and interpret MARPOL, APPS, ECA, BW, and VGP requirements.

You will develop local policy, coordinate with industry and state partners, and advise managers and inspectors on regulations governing marine safety and pollution prevention for commercial vessels.

• Typical work assignments include serving as subject matter expert for Vessel Incidental Discharge Act (VIDA) and related environmental compliance initiatives.
• Guidance to managers, inspectors and industry on development, applicability, interpretation and enforcement of treaties, laws and regulations.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as subject matter expert for VIDA and related environmental compliance initiatives.
• Develop local policy based on risk management for new programs and evaluate substitutions to existing requirements.
• Coordinate with state and industry partners to implement new regulations and ensure vessel owners meet requirements.
