Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a Mainframe Systems Programmer to ensure a highly available z/OS environment. You will monitor CICS/MQ, plan upgrades, and maintain the IBM Z infrastructure across test and production environments.

The role requires experience with SMP/E, ISPF/SDSF, JES2, JCL, and related utilities, plus a drive to build automation, participate in disaster recovery, and explore new technologies to improve performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience with analyzing, designing, coding, testing and implementing technical solutions with minimal defects.
• 3 years of technical problem solving and collaboration in teams/projects.
• 3 years of knowledge of mainframe concepts and operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, upgrade, and manage CICS/MQ in test and production LPARs.
• Monitor health of CICS/MQ environments and troubleshoot root causes.
• Support the IBM Z mainframe z/OS environment using SMP/E, ISPF/SDSF.
• Work with JES2, JCL, and related utilities; build automation scripts.
• Participate in disaster recovery exercises and DR readiness.
• Research and assess new technologies for potential deployment.
