Job summary

Eliassen Group in the United States is seeking a seasoned Mainframe Engineer to design, develop, test, configure, and support mainframe solutions within a financial services context. You will lead architecture discussions, ensure operational readiness, and drive continuous improvement of mainframe platforms.

The role requires deep expertise in COBOL, CICS, SAS, MQ, TSO and related tooling, with a strong track record in delivering reliable, scalable systems on a W2 basis.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with mainframe systems and related technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or comparable experience.
• Expert knowledge of mainframe operating systems, COBOL, CICS, SAS, and MQ.
• Experience with TSO and mainframe development tooling.

Responsibilities

• Serve as mainframe subject matter expert on projects.
• Participate in infrastructure planning and future technology directions.
• Maintain knowledge of current/future infrastructure and roadmaps.
• Coordinate cross-department mainframe migrations and agile delivery.
• Design and implement features while improving product and app quality.
• Lead tests, vendor evaluations, and project planning activities.
• Mentor developers and enforce coding standards.
• Automate processes to achieve operational excellence.
