Job summary

Ensono is hiring a Mainframe Engineer for a remote role in the United States. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of mainframe development experience and will support, maintain, and enhance critical mainframe applications while guiding junior team members.

Responsibilities include designing and maintaining mainframe systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and producing technical documentation. The role offers remote work with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support and maintenance.
Proficiency in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM) and SDLC.
Familiar with version control systems and software development tools.
US Citizen or US Green Card Holder.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
Work with enterprise ticketing systems and manage operational workflows.
Contribute in both waterfall and agile projects; handle incidents, requests, and changes.
Provide technical troubleshooting and resolve complex integration issues.
Tune performance of mainframe apps and database queries.
Create technical documentation for knowledge sharing and support.
Translate requirements into concrete implementation options for the business.
