The OS Platform Engineer I at Huntington National Bank collaborates with Mainframe teams to install, configure, and maintain z/OS environments, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.

You will work with ISVs to customize solutions and participate in an on-call rotation, contributing to an agile team while building strong mainframe skills with CICS, Db2 for z/OS, and MQ for z/OS.

• Resolve systems and application problems in coordination with other Mainframe Engineers and users.
• Learn plans and procedures for disaster/recovery and contingency planning.
• Understand z/OS core concepts, including CICS for z/OS, Db2 for z/OS, MQ for z/OS and related tools such as ISPF, SMF, JES, JCL.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position also works closely with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to customize application solutions and tools to help improve the value of the z Systems platform and environment.

This position also works closely with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to customize application solutions and tools to help improve the value of the z Systems platform and environment.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Provides 24X7 on-call in team rotation after trained.
• Work independently, as well as work collaboratively, and contribute to an agile team environment.
• Learn how to maintain “State of the Art’ knowledge of best practices in systems administration, high availability, metrics, and business continuity.
• Candidate must be self-motivated and assertive while possessing the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a team environment.
• Demonstrate problem resolution ability to resolve systems application problems while working with other Mainframe Engineers, coordinates with programming application users to determine symptoms and ensure accurate problem resolution.
• Learn plans and implementation strategies and procedures for physical disaster/recovery and contingency planning.
• Understand fundamental concepts of z/OS core, network & storage, CICS for z/OS, Db2 for z/OS, MQ for z/OS along with mainframe related tools such as BMC Mainview, IBM –CICS Interdependency Analyzer, IBM –CICS Performance analyzer, SMPE, ISPF, SMS, SMF, JES, JCL.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
• 6 months of related experience that involves working with technology

• Previous IT course work or experience
