Job summary

FedTec is seeking a Mainframe Developer specializing in COBOL, JCL, IDMS, and DB2 to maintain and modernize critical federal financial applications on IBM z/OS. This remote role requires navigating a SAFe Agile environment and adhering to strict security and change-control processes.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of mainframe COBOL experience in regulated settings, strong SQL tuning skills, and the ability to obtain a Public Trust. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years COBOL development in financial or government settings.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, debug, and document COBOL batch and online applications for federal systems.
• Develop and maintain JCL job streams, procs, and batch schedules; resolve abends.
• Write and tune database access for IDMS and DB2, including embedded SQL.
• Do system analysis, impact assessments, and root-cause analysis.
• Analyze and optimize COBOL programs and SQL for performance and CPU usage.
• Take part in SAFe Agile ceremonies and contribute to estimation and story refinement.
• Support unit, integration, system, and regression testing, and assist with UAT and production deployments.
• Mentor junior developers and coordinate technical work across team members.
