Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking an entry-level Loss Mitigation Underwriter I to evaluate loan modification applications remotely from home. The role under Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines involves VOI, DTI calculations, and determining workout options while adhering to legal and policy requirements.

The position targets 1–2 years of loss mitigation underwriting experience and requires a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of underwriting loss mitigation experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze loans to ensure compliance with Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines.
• Conduct Verification of Income (VOI).
• Calculate front and back-end debt-to-income ratio.
• Verify occupancy, hardship and income.
• Apply payment waterfall to determine workout options (repayment plan, forbearance, modification or liquidation).
• Identify liquid assets held by the borrower (when applicable).
• Communicate needed conditions to document the file (e.g., updated pay stubs, bankruptcy papers).
• Complete system tasks to maintain Treasury, Company and Investor compliance.
• Document final decision and update records.
