Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking a Loss Mitigation Underwriter I to underwrite loan modification applications in line with Treasury, Company, and Investor guidelines while following our policies and procedures. The role is entry level and handles less complex files while gaining experience, with a target pay range of $23.00–$26.00 per hour and the possibility to work remotely from home.

We require a high school diploma and 1–2 years of underwriting loss mitigation experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years of underwriting loss mitigation experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough analysis to ensure loan quality and compliance with Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines.
• Conduct Verification of Income (VOI).
• Calculate front and back-end debt to income ratio.
• Verify occupancy, hardship and income.
• Apply payment waterfall to determine workout eligibility (repayment plan, forbearance, modification or liquidation).
• Identify liquid assets held by the borrower if applicable.
• Determine and communicate required conditions to properly document the file.
• Complete system tasks to maintain compliance with guidelines.
• Document final decision and update system of record.
