Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking a Loss Mitigation Underwriter II to underwrite loss mitigation applications in line with Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines. This intermediate role handles moderately complex files under general supervision, with a target pay range of $26.00-$31.00 per hour.

The position offers remote work from home, opportunities to gain experience on more complex files, and a supportive team environment focused on compliant decisions and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two to three years of underwriting/loss mitigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough analysis to ensure loan quality and compliance with Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines.
• Conduct Verification of Income (VOI).
• Calculate front- and back-end debt-to-income ratio.
• Verify occupancy, hardship and income.
• Apply payment waterfall to determine workout eligibility (repurchase plans, forbearances, modifications or liquidation options).
• Identify liquid assets held by borrower, if applicable.
• Determine and communicate required conditions to document the file (e.g., reason for default letter, updated pay stubs, bankruptcy papers).
• Complete system tasks to maintain compliance with guidelines.
• Document final decision and update system of record.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
