JTG Inc. is seeking Freelance Legal Translators, Transcribers, and Interpreters to work remotely with optional onsite opportunities in major U.S. cities.

The role covers translation, transcription, and interpretation for legal content, requiring strong English skills and proficiency with legal terminology. Minimum bachelor’s degree, background in law or journalism preferred, and willingness to undergo a U.S. government background check.

Qualifications

• Proficient in translating between English and a foreign language.
• Proficient in interpreting between English and a foreign language.
• Experience in audio transcription.
• Experience as a professional translator, editor, transcriber, interpreter, journalist, writer, or legal professional.
• Familiar with legal terminology.
• Willing to undergo a U.S. government background check.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate translation of documents involving law enforcement and legal subjects
• Transcribe audio files and translate them into target language
• Communicate fluently in English orally and in writing
• Translate in accordance with designated style and quality standards
• Use domain-specific terminology
• Review the quality of other translators’ work as needed
• Interpret accurately, while preserving the tone and register, and abiding by the code of ethics
