Job summary

micro1 is seeking a Member of Technical Staff, Law Research, to lead the development of evaluation frameworks for AI-enabled legal reasoning. You will design benchmarks and collaborate with researchers to shape enterprise AI workflows, focused on robust evaluation across diverse legal tasks.

The role requires advanced legal training (JD/LLM/SJD/PhD in Law) and a track record in legal research, with strong analytical and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Law required.
• Expertise in one or more legal domains (corporate, contracts, litigation, regulatory, IP, employment, public policy).
• Experience conducting legal research, analysis, or policy work.
• Experience developing structured methodologies for assessing legal arguments or outcomes.
• Exceptional analytical reasoning and written communication skills.
• Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams including research, technology, or legal operations.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve evaluation frameworks for AI agents in legal domains, including benchmarks and scoring methodologies.
• Perform original research on legal reasoning and policy implications for AI systems.
• Develop datasets and benchmark environments reflecting real-world legal challenges.
• Collaborate with AI researchers and engineers to evaluate and improve legal-focused models.
• Analyze model performance, reasoning quality, and failure modes in legal use cases.
• Publish internal research findings and best practices on evaluation methodologies.
• Stay current with legal tech, jurisprudence, and regulatory developments.
