Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Mathematical Formalization Specialist to translate informal proofs into Lean and related proof assistants. This remote hourly contract role focuses on rigor, clarity, and correctness across diverse mathematical domains, contributing to AI research and mechanized mathematics.

You will collaborate with researchers to push the boundaries of formal verification, develop readable proof scripts, and extend proof libraries like mathlib. Flexible timing and task-based work await.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in a mathematical field.
• Hands‑on experience with Lean and related proof assistants.
• Ability to translate informal arguments into clean, machine‑checkable proofs.

Responsibilities

• Translate informal mathematical proofs into Lean (and related proof assistants) with emphasis on clarity, structure, and correctness.
• Analyze proofs across domains—identify gaps, hidden assumptions, and formalizable sub‑structures.
• Construct formalizations that test and extend the limits of existing proof assistants.
• Collaborate with researchers to design and evaluate strategies for improving formal verification pipelines.
• Develop readable, reproducible proof scripts aligned with mathematical best practices and proof assistant idioms.
• Provide expert guidance on proof decomposition, lemma selection, and formal model structuring.
• Investigate where automated provers break down and articulate why.
