Job summary

Onward Search is seeking a Lead Wiring Diagram Designer to manage a wiring design group in Rancho Cordova, CA. This leadership role focuses on accuracy, standards compliance, and delivering reliable panel wiring for industrial power distribution projects.

You will review point-to-point diagrams, allocate tasks, ensure thorough checks, and collaborate with CAD teams to implement templates and tools. Strong experience with NEC/UL standards and AutoCAD is required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in wiring diagram and control panel design within industrial/power environments
• 2+ years in supervisory or leadership role managing a team of drafters or engineers
• Strong knowledge of NEC, UL 891, UL 1558, and ANSI/IEEE standards for panel wiring
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear feedback and standard explanations

Responsibilities

• Manage and review production of point-to-point wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and schematics for accuracy and standards compliance
• Allocate tasks across the design team based on project timelines and capacity; monitor progress and address bottlenecks
• Ensure drawings are checked for compliance before release; identify recurring errors or knowledge gaps
• Develop and enforce drawing conventions; manage library assets; coordinate with CAD team on tools and templates
• Facilitate onboarding, deliver targeted training, and propose workflow improvements to optimize wiring design processes
