Job summary

Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) in the United States seeks a Lead Engineer to guide project teams in protection and control engineering for substations, ensuring accurate designs and on-time delivery. The role demands strong leadership, organization, and communication to meet customer requirements in a fast-paced environment.

You will perform and supervise detailed designs, coordinate with vendors, and mentor junior staff while traveling to site visits.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relay/protection engineering or related industry
• Experience with protective relaying standards and substations preferred
• Familiarity with NE utilities and P&C standards preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate protection & control detailed designs for medium to extra-high voltage substations
• Perform detailed designs of one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation layouts
• Create and review detailed designs of communication or integration one-line diagrams and front view panel diagrams for RTU/SCADA integration
• Experience acting as OE for reviewing designs and supplying information to the design team
• Oversee several projects concurrently with limited supervision
• Review industry best practices to ensure best-in-class protection philosophy and cyber security compliance
• Lead, plan, and coordinate projects with customers and internal teams
• Train and develop junior personnel
• Interface with customers to deliver a quality product by the scheduled delivery date
• Travel for field support including site visits and as-built documentation
• Experience with manufacturers such as SEL, GE, Beckwith, and Ruggedcom switches
