Description
A Lead Engineer with Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) will lead a team or work on a team to complete engineering tasks and create custom engineering solutions to meet customer needs. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to adapt in a fast-paced and evolving industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating and reviewing Protection & Control detaileddesigns and direct others in the detaileddesignof medium to extra-high-voltageutilitysubstations
- Perform detaileddesignof one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing,substationphysical layouts, selection ofsubstationequipment, writing ofsubstationequipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
- Creating and reviewing detaileddesigns of Communication or Integration One-Line Diagrams and Front view Panel Diagrams for integratingsubstationprotective relaying withutilityspecific RTU/ Remote Access / SCADA, managed switches and LAN Communication Equipment.
- Experience filling the role ofsubstationdesignengineer for several projects occurring concurrently
- Reviewing current industry best practices to ensure best in class protection philosophy and compliance with cyber security requirements
- Leading, planning, and coordinating projects with limited supervision
- Understanding and delivering results based on client-specific standards and requirements
- Training and developing junior personnel
- Leading project teams and interfacing with the customer to deliver a quality product by the scheduled delivery date
- Act as the OE (Owner’s Engineer) responsible for reviewingdesigns and supplying thedesignteam with the requested information to complete a project
- Occasional travel will be required - Field support including Walk-downs, Site Visits, And “As-Built” support
Education & Experience
- 6+ years of experience in relay/protection engineering or related industry required.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Strong knowledge of engineering theory, practices, and procedures
- Engineer In Training (EIT) registration preferred
- Registered PE (Professional Engineer) preferred
- Familiarization or experience with various New England utilities and their associated P&C standards and procedures preferred
- Experience in power protection, relaydesign, and planning, orsubstationdesignand telecom integration
- Experience withsubstationrelays and equipment manufacturers such as SEL, GE, Beckwith, electromechanical relays, Ruggedcom switches, and Cimplicity HMIs
- Experience withAutoCADorMicroStationsoftware preferred
- Experience with Document Control or Document Management preferred.
