Job summary

Sequen is seeking a Staff+ Research Engineer to lead recursive self-improvement efforts within the RSI team. You will set the research agenda, run experiments, and ship production-ready improvements that boost client models in real time.

This applied role requires writing production-grade Python and delivering measurable gains on real problems. You will mentor a small team of researchers, collaborate with applied scientists, and stay current with frontier LLM literature to drive impactful

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in applied ML research or research engineering.
• Experience taking ideas from prototype to shipped production.
• Rigorous experimentation with baselines and confidence intervals.
• Hands-on Python development for end-to-end experiments.
• Understanding frontier LLMs in long agent loops and tool use.

Responsibilities

• Own the RSI agenda: define the research roadmap and what ships.
• Advance agent strategy and explore allocation across parallel agents.
• Turn sessions into training signals and evaluate progress.
• Define research quality metrics with the RSI team.
• Improve cross-session Knowledge transfer across tasks and clients.
• Track RSI and agentic LLM literature; prototype promising ideas.
• Collaborate with applied scientists to align research with client problems.
