Job summary

Sequen AI is building the Recursive Ranking Intelligence system that powers production traffic for major platforms. We seek a Staff+ Research Engineer to lead RSI research, set the agenda, run experiments, and ship working improvements into production alongside our team.

This role emphasizes hands-on coding and measurable client-facing impact. You will collaborate with the RSI harness and applied scientists, owning end-to-end experiments and guiding technical leadership while advancing frontier

Qualifications

• 7+ years of applied ML research or research engineering.
• Hands-on work with at least one of LLM agents, AutoML, meta-learning, recursive self-improvement, or closely related area.
• Research ideas to production with measured improvements.
• Hands-on production-quality Python and end-to-end experiments.

Responsibilities

• Own the RSI agenda: define the research roadmap for improvements and what ships.
• Advance agent strategy: design/test exploration policies and resource allocation.
• Learn from past sessions: turn research sessions into training/evaluation signals.
• Define research quality: specify metrics and evaluation plans with the team.
• Compound knowledge: make learnings transfer across sessions/clients.
• Drive research frontiers: track RSI literature and run experiments.
• Partner with scientists: work with applied scientists to validate agents.
