Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Lead DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate Kubernetes deployment platforms using GitOps across environments. You will own end-to-end delivery, coordinating with development, QA, and operations to ensure secure, auditable deployments and reliable releases.

A hands-on leader, you’ll mentor a medium-sized team and shape technical direction. This remote role offers nationwide flexibility, with in-person days at Minneapolis or Washington, DC as needed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience deploying and operating Kubernetes workloads in production.
• Proficiency with GitOps tooling (ArgoCD/Flux) and Git-centered delivery workflows.
• Strong knowledge of modern source control platforms (GitHub/GitLab).
• Ability to build/maintain CI/CD automation and translate manual steps into automation.
• Demonstrated leadership as a hands-on technical lead and delivery ownership.
• Experience governing releases in multi-team environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate Kubernetes deployment capabilities using GitOps standards.
• Engineer and maintain deployment automation and tooling.
• Administer source control ecosystems with security controls and governance.
• Manage release cycles, branching, approvals, and rebuilds for pipelines.
• Ensure reliability of non-prod and production delivery environments.
• Lead secure delivery practices including secrets management and rotation.
• Adopt AI tools to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Coach and manage performance of a medium-sized engineering team.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver results.
