Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Lead Data Architect for a media sector project. You will lead discovery and data modelling for a new canonical data platform, collaborating with business users and engineers to understand data requirements and use cases.

You will inventory datasets, define grain, relationships, semantics, and mappings, and document schemas and decisions. Your work will drive practical, implementable data solutions with a focus on quality and lineage.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in data architecture and data modelling.
• Ability to translate business concepts into clear data models for engineering teams.
• Experience profiling data across multiple sources and legacy environments.
• Strong understanding of data entities, relationships, grain, semantics, and data lineage.
• Strong SQL skills for data discovery and modelling.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and data modelling for a new canonical data platform.
• Collaborate with business users, domain experts, and engineering teams to define data requirements and use cases.
• Inventory and analyse existing datasets, feeds, schemas, and legacy data structures.
• Define grain, entities, relationships, semantics, and key measures of the canonical model.
• Map source data into the target canonical model, identify gaps and data quality issues.
• Document schemas, mappings, lineage, data definitions, and architectural decisions.
• Work with data engineering teams to turn the model and mappings into implementable solutions.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and gaps in the data architecture and define approaches to address them.
• Coordinate sequencing so teams can work in parallel during discovery and early delivery.
• Act as technical owner of the canonical data model during discovery and early delivery.
