CVS Health is seeking a Principal Applied AI Architect to own the design, build, and shipping of AI-powered products across the enterprise. Qualifications

12+ years in software engineering and architecture, with progression to enterprise architect and applied‑AI builder.
8+ years at architecture altitude with a track record of designed, built, and shipped systems.
2+ years building and shipping production AI applications using LLMs, agentic systems, RAG, MCP, and evaluation frameworks.
Hands‑on with at least one major foundation model provider and at least one agent framework with clear opinions on tradeoffs.
Strong Python plus one additional production language (TypeScript, Java, Go, or similar).
Solid system‑design fundamentals across distributed systems, APIs, cloud, data pipelines, and enterprise integration patterns.
Proven track record of AI applications shipped to production with disciplined evaluation, testing, and observability.
Able to communicate clearly with engineers and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Design and architect end‑to‑end AI systems including retrieval, agent orchestration, tool and MCP integration, evaluation harnesses, and observability.
Write PRDs, design documents, and architecture decision records for AI products you own.
Build production implementations using AI coding agents with disciplined testing and observability.
Collaborate with platform and system owners to integrate AI applications with enterprise platforms, identity, and data services, following CVS security and compliance standards.
Mentor architects and engineers and conduct architecture reviews of AI systems across the organization.
