Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Staff Application Security Engineer to lead vulnerability management across cloud, firmware/IoT, and corporate systems. You will drive the technical direction, build scalable tooling, and mentor engineers while partnering with product and engineering to reduce risk and improve security posture.

You will engage in incident response, leverage AI-driven security workflows, and work within a flexible remote model to scale globally.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in cloud/security engineering and vulnerability management across multi-product environments.
• Ability to independently set technical and architectural direction for security programs.
• Experience with modern vulnerability tooling and vulnerability scoring frameworks.
• Hands-on with SAST/DAST/SCA and AI-assisted security workflows.
• Familiarity with security automation platforms and CI/CD integration.
• Experience with C/C++ in firmware or embedded contexts.
• Experience in cloud-native/AI-forward product companies.
• Experience delivering security in FedRAMP environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy and continuous improvement of vulnerability management and other core security programs.
• Own MTTR reductions across vulnerability backlog and ensure SLAs.
• Build automation/tools to scale detection, remediation, and response across cloud and IoT environments.
• Translate leadership priorities into concrete execution plans for the security team.
• Collaborate with engineering to drive secure design, remediation guidance, and threat modeling.
• Mentor engineers and act as a technical advisor on security priorities.
• Communicate risk and remediation tradeoffs to leadership in actionable terms.
• Participate in security incident investigations and high-profile vulnerability response.
