Estrada Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Labor Market Economist for a remote, part-time contract focusing on graduate outcomes and labor market analytics for a public higher education client.

You will map programs to occupations, analyze earnings and outcomes, and describe demand, wages and skills using BLS data and IPEDS. You will define regional views, explain data source limits, support reviewers, and review dashboards for accuracy.

Qualifications

• A graduate degree in economics, labor economics, public policy or a related field.
• Five or more years working with BLS and state LMI data, including occupational projections and wage data.
• Hands-on experience with the CIP to SOC crosswalk and program to occupation analysis.
• Familiarity with PSEO, IPEDS, College Scorecard or state wage record matching.
• Comfort with SQL, Python or R for data preparation.
• Experience supporting higher education institutional research or workforce boards is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Map academic programs to occupations using the CIP to SOC crosswalk and review with faculty and program leaders.
• Analyze graduate earnings and employment outcomes from Census PSEO and IPEDS.
• Work with BLS data (OEWS, QCEW, Employment Projections), state LMI data, and O*NET to describe demand, wages and skills.
• Define regional views, including custom county groupings, and explain data source limits.
• Help program reviewers and new proposals use the analysis and write methodology notes for nontechnical readers.
• Review dashboards and data products built by the engineering team for accuracy and interpretation.
