Job summary

Actalent seeks a Lab Buyer to manage procurement of laboratory supplies and equipment, ensuring contract alignment, cost savings, and timely deliveries for multiple facilities.

You will create POs, maintain supplier data, negotiate pricing, support site setups, and collaborate with accounts payable and contracts teams, all while working remotely with occasional on-site training in Phoenix, AZ.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing or buying indirect goods and services, preferably in healthcare.
• Familiarity with MRP or internal purchasing systems and data management.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Process orders for equipment, supplies, and standing orders to support lab operations.
• Create and transmit supplier purchase orders via EDI, phone, or email.
• Document confirmations, expected receipts, and backorders with records.
• Expedite orders and coordinate substitutions during supply issues.
• Negotiate pricing to align with contracts and savings goals.
• Support internal customers with streamlined recurring purchases.
• Advise on cost-saving opportunities within supplier contracts.
• Coordinate new site setups and onboarding for labs and centers.
• Assist training of new Purchasing staff on processes and systems.
• Analyze usage to identify savings by comparing pricing.
• Document savings and recommend items for negotiated pricing.
• Serve as a resource for product and supplier information.
• Verify pricing against contracts and resolve discrepancies.
• Partner with Accounts Payable and Contracts to ensure timely payments.
• Address shipment issues and product quality concerns with suppliers.
• Obtain quotes for specialized products and services.
• Research contracts for items not listed and recommend products.
• Initiate and manage data updates in purchasing system.
• Coordinate PO price updates with the data analyst.
• Procure supplies for multiple facilities, ensuring consistent support.
• Authorize daily non-capital purchases within thresholds.
• Work with current suppliers to place orders up to limits.
• Generate and review expedite, backorder, and open order reports.
• Investigate supplier issues and document resolutions.
• Collaborate with the buyer team for information sharing and improvements.
