Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a HIM Data Abstractor to support patient care and revenue cycle operations by accurately capturing and organizing clinical information in the EHR. This full-time role requires 40 hours per week, includes weekend shifts (Sunday, Friday, Saturday), and offers a 1st shift CST with potential for 4x10-hour days.

Qualifications

• Proficient computer skills and ability to learn Epic, ExtractLabDE, Solarity, OnBase, and Microsoft 365.
• High attention to detail and accuracy with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Navigate EHR and related applications to support patient care and revenue cycle.
• Receive, sort, and scan clinical documentation into the EHR per HIM procedures.
• Analyze non-interfaced lab reports for patient identifiers and regulatory compliance.
• Enter data into the EHR using OCR and manual entry.
• Create and validate lab orders, entries, and notes in the system.
• Ensure PHI security and HIPAA compliance.
• Perform QA of scanned docs ensuring correct patient, encounter and document type.
• Communicate with care teams and labs via phone, email, and Epic In-Basket.
