Beno Technologies invites a Backend Engineer to join our remote‑first team building the engine behind Beno, the UAE’s leading marketplace for luxury rentals and experiences. You’ll develop backend services, APIs, and integrations that power bookings, payments, and notifications.

You’ll work with Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot, and SQL, writing tests and reviewing code. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers, operate in a remote setting with UAE‑hour alignment, and contribute to scalable, clean

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of professional experience, or a solid portfolio of personal, open‑source or academic projects.
• Working knowledge of Java or Kotlin and comfort with object‑oriented design.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot, or another web framework plus the appetite to pick up Spring quickly.
• An understanding of HTTP, REST and JSON — and an interest in what makes an API good to use.
• Basic SQL and an understanding of relational data modelling.
• A testing habit: you write tests because you want to know your code works, not because someone asked.
• Comfortable with Git and a branch‑and‑pull‑request workflow.
• Curiosity about Domain‑Driven Design and Clean Code — you do not need to have practised them yet.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain our backend systems for Beno's marketplace and operations.
• Build APIs using Spring Boot with documentation-first approach and robust testing.
• Maintain complex systems using Domain‑Driven Design and Clean Code practices.
• Collaborate with senior engineers during code reviews and pairing sessions.
• Integrate third‑party services such as payments and messaging into booking flows.
• Work with PostgreSQL: write queries, optimize indexes, and ensure safe migrations.
• Investigate production issues with senior engineers from logs to root cause.
• Ensure reliable and scalable backend services with a focus on API quality.
