Job summary

Kforce Inc. is seeking a Java Software Engineer to support application modernization, security hardening, and API development. The role is approximately 60% backend and 40% frontend, focusing on customer-facing applications where code quality and security are critical.

The perfect candidate will have strong Java(Core), Spring Boot, REST APIs, and frontend skills with Thymeleaf/Backbone. This is a remote position with collaboration in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Core Java development experience, preferably with Java 17 or Java 21.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience with Spring Web MVC and REST APIs.
• Frontend/web development experience including: JavaScript; AJAX; Thymeleaf; Backbone.js.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and web security concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Spring technologies.
• Support vulnerability remediation, security hardening, and dependency/package updates.
• Design, develop, and integrate REST APIs and microservices.
• Troubleshoot and modify web applications across backend and frontend layers.
• Read, understand, and modify JavaScript/UI code as needed.
• Collaborate with developers through code reviews and Agile ceremonies.
• Work with containerized apps in OpenShift/Kubernetes and Docker environments.
