Job summary

Avum, Inc. seeks Java Developers at varying experience levels to support design, development, integration, and maintenance of enterprise software for Federal Government customers.

This role develops Java applications and collaborates with Agile teams to deliver secure, reliable software for mission critical programs. Responsibilities include designing and building APIs, backend services, participating in code reviews, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE/IS or related field.
• Professional experience developing Java applications.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and web services.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, or similar Java frameworks.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git.
• Understanding of software development practices including testing, debugging, and code reviews.
• Ability to collaborate within an Agile development team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java applications and services
• Translate business and technical requirements into software solutions
• Develop and maintain APIs, backend systems, and application integrations
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle
• Participate in sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
• Troubleshoot software defects and support root cause analysis
• Write unit tests and support automated testing efforts
• Participate in code reviews and follow established coding and security standards
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Support software deployments and production releases
• Based on experience, contribute to technical design decisions, guide development efforts, and mentor other developers
