Job Description

This Remote Janitor position involves laundry attending, cleaning services, and other duties to maintain remote industrial housing facilities, food service areas, office facilities, or similar areas in a clean and orderly condition. The role may include expediting product, supplies, and equipment between camps. All duties are performed in accordance with NMS’ mission, vision, values, and housekeeping policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

1. Clean, vacuum, mop, restock hallways, stairways, offices, food areas, kitchens, laundry rooms, clinics, living and work areas, off-site and common areas, restrooms, and public spaces.
2. Perform floor cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, extracting, waxing, buffing, and vacuuming.
3. Dust low and high surfaces; wipe down and clean various surfaces.
4. Use appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for each task.
5. Remove and dispose of discarded materials properly.
6. Transport trash to disposal areas and manage linen, towels, and trash removal from various locations.
7. Restock sleeping rooms and bathrooms with towels, sheets, and blankets as needed.
8. Clean indoor and outdoor smoking lounges if required.
9. Perform light facility maintenance, such as changing light bulbs.
10. Keep building entryways clear of snow and debris.
11. Participate in and support safety programs.
12. Drive extensively, often in foul weather, including transporting items to and from sites using a box van and manual equipment like handcarts and lifts.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned, including safety and sanitation monitoring.

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
2. At least one year of experience with commercial cleaning equipment and industrial cleaning processes.
3. At least one year of commercial housekeeping experience.
4. Must pass all pre-employment requirements, including background checks and drug tests.
5. Must be a NANA Shareholder residing in the NANA Region.
6. Ability to work cooperatively in a team and make decisions independently.
7. Ability to stand for 12 hours per shift and live in dormitory-style remote camp settings.
8. Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
9. Adherence to all safety guidelines and regulations.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Indoor/outdoor environment, frequently exposed to arctic conditions, with moderate to loud noise levels. Employees must be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, use hands, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and potentially toxic chemicals is possible. Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs. Travel by plane or bus to remote camps is required, and valid ID for TSA security is necessary.
