Job summary

Commence is seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to lead security for federal systems and partner with CIOs, engineers, and compliance teams. You will own risk assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring across CMS, VA, DoD, IRS, and DHS programs.

You will coordinate project plans, author and maintain security documentation, and ensure timely communications with agencies. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required with 5+ years in information assurance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of information assurance or cybersecurity experience.
• 3+ years as an ISSO or A&A lead for federal information systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the designated ISSO for assigned federal systems and liaise with agency ISSOs, AO, assessors, and prime contractor security teams.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to integrate security milestones into project plans and ensure timely risk remediation.
• Manage the RMF lifecycle (SP 800-37) from categorization to reauthorization and maintain required documentation (SSP, risk assessments, POA&M).
• Prepare for CMS, VA, DoD, and IRS assessments and support audits with evidence collection and findings responses.
