Job summary

Tennessee Department of Treasury is seeking an Internal Auditor I to support audits of nearly 600 TCRS employers through data analysis scripts and continuous analytics. The role includes planning, fieldwork, and reporting with oversight from senior auditors.

The candidate will advance professional development to support the Internal Audit division’s succession plan. The position is primarily remote with occasional in-person meetings and potential future hybrid work in downtown Nashville.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in accounting, auditing, or data sciences from an accredited institution is required
• Documented knowledge in accounting, auditing, or data analysis with ability to work independently
• Documented work experience using ACL (or current data software solution) to complete projects involving data analysis and auditing is required
• Have or willing to obtain ACL Data Analytics (ACDA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certifications as part of professional development
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and facilitation)
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Project development and presentation skills
• Detail oriented and inquisitive
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

Responsibilities

• Assist Internal Audit management with planning and performing audits and reporting on activities
• Conduct data analysis using current data analysis software solution and GRC reporting structure
• Learn to perform data analysis using ACL to support continuous auditing and monitoring projects
• Summarize data analytic results for inclusion in internal audit reports including findings and recommendations
• Support state audits requests and test work
• Identify controls and assess departmental and functional area controls
• Investigate irregularities and recommend corrective actions
