Rockstar is seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist to support U.S.-based healthcare practices on a full-time remote basis. This role focuses on owning verification workflows and coordinating with front-office and billing teams to ensure proper authorization before appointments.

You will maintain accurate EMR records, communicate clearly with payers and staff, and help prevent denials and delays through careful data entry and proactive follow-up.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in medical insurance verification, prior authorization, or related healthcare admin role.
• Strong knowledge of insurance terminology, benefit structures, eligibility processes, and payer requirements.
• Ability to interpret and communicate benefit details to clinical staff and patients.
• Experience with insurance companies via phone and payer portals.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication; clear phone communication essential.
• Strong organizational skills to manage high volumes of verifications and authorizations.
• Ability to work independently, meet daily targets, and maintain client communication.
• Reliable home office setup with stable internet for HIPAA remote work.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to all scheduled appointments.
• Confirm coverage details including co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums.
• Identify and document patient financial responsibility at least 24 hours before arrival.
• Update EMR records with accurate insurance information.
• Communicate verification results to clinical and administrative staff.
• Handle various insurance types including commercial plans, Medicare, Medicaid, workers' compensation, and auto claims.
• Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and services as required by plans.
• Submit authorization requests via phone, portals, and electronic systems.
• Track approvals, denials, and expirations; follow up to prevent gaps in care.
• Renew authorizations as needed; escalate unresolved issues promptly.
• Liaise with insurance companies to clarify coverage and obtain benefit details.
• Assist patients and staff with insurance questions and documentation; prevent claim rejections.
• Maintain organized electronic records and generate basic reports.
