Job summary

GEICO is seeking an Associate Counsel to defend lawsuits filed in Texas courts and other first party insurance defense matters. This remote role is commutable to Texas offices and requires relocation flexibility within the state.

The ideal candidate has a JD, Texas Bar admission, 2–6+ years in related litigation, strong written and oral advocacy, and the ability to manage complex files, travel as needed, and adhere to strict regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 2–6+ years of related field litigation experience in insurance/defense/personal injury.
• Juris Doctor degree REQUIRED.
• Admission to the Texas Bar REQUIRED.
• Licensed in good standing to practice law in Texas and meet CLE requirements.
• Must be able to travel to trials, hearings, depositions and conferences.
• Clear, concise professional written communication; ability to follow complex instructions.
• Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
• Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
• Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations, and defending by trial or dispositive hearing
