GEICO seeks an Associate Counsel to defend lawsuits in Texas courts as part of GEICO Staff Counsel in Houston. The role requires JD, Texas Bar admission, 2–6+ years of related field litigation in insurance/defense or personal injury, and willingness to travel.

You will prepare briefs, opinions, pleadings, and discovery; manage filings, depositions, and hearings; document files clearly and stay organized while advising Claims. Remote within commutable distance to office.

Qualifications

• JD required and licensed to practice in Texas.
• 2–6+ years of related field litigation experience in insurance/defense/personal injury.
• Willingness to travel for trials, depositions, and meetings.
• Must document files clearly and maintain organization.

Responsibilities

• Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Render opinions on liability, damages, and value for the Claims Department.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations.
• Defend matters at trial or dispositive hearings and manage files in a clear, professional manner.
