Job summary

Security Mutual Life Insurance is seeking a Customer Service Representative to handle inbound calls in a fast-paced environment, build relationships with clients and agents, and process payments and complex service requests. The role offers primarily remote work with periodic time in the designated offices (Binghamton, NY or Houston, TX).

Requires at least 3 years in customer service, 1 year accounting experience preferred, familiarity with Word/Excel, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Customer Service.
• Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience preferred.
• Experience in an insurance industry or call center environment.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent data entry skills.
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls in a fast-paced call center environment and build relationships with clients and agents.
• Process payments and complex service requests, including billing changes and premium histories.
• Handle manual premium payments and other service requests by check or phone.
• Process loan by phone requests and website inquiries.
• Complete insurance verifications and policy summary requests.
• Follow up to obtain missing items and funds to bring policies up to date.
• Keep records of customer interactions and transactions.
