Job summary

University of the Cumberlands is seeking an instructional designer to support online courses and faculty development. The designer will ensure quality aligned with face-to-face offerings, support accreditation needs, and enhance online programs.

Responsibilities include developing responsive online curricula, guiding faculty in course design, and promoting accessibility and active learning across courses. A hybrid/remote setup and collaboration with IT and marketing are anticipated.

Qualifications

• Experience in distance learning and instructional technology.
• Experience in online course development and teaching online environments.
• Experience with major LMS platforms (Blackboard/D2L/Moodle/Canvas).
• Ability to implement accessibility guidelines in the online environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise responsive online plans and curricula.
• Collaborate with faculty to standardize course formats for online learning.
• Design courses with active learning strategies and assessments.
• Assist faculty with online teaching methods and LMS usage.
• Evaluate courses and implement continuous improvement plans.
• Provide faculty development on LMS tools, online teaching best practices, and accessibility.
