Job summary

UF Health Central Florida is seeking an Inpatient Hospital Coder to review medical records and assign diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with ICD, CPT, HCPCS, and internal guidelines. This remote role requires residency in approved states and supports the billing team with precise coded data.

Applicants must have CPC certification at hire, CPC-A not acceptable, and a minimum of three years of physician coding experience (preferably radiology).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required at time of hire; CPC-A not acceptable.
• Minimum three years physician coding experience; preferably radiology.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS; knowledge of billing and reimbursement.
• Experience with revenue cycle workflows and denial prevention; EMR systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and analyzes medical records to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes.
• Ensures compliance with coding guidelines and organizational policies.
• Collaborates with healthcare providers to clarify documentation.
• Resolves coding discrepancies and maintains data integrity.
• Supports billing with accurate coded information for claims.
• Audits coded data and monitors productivity and quality metrics.
• Trains staff on coding procedures and updates.
