Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an Inpatient Coding Quality Analyst to drive coding quality improvement and ensure regulatory compliance. This remote role focuses on pre-bill and post-bill audits, high-risk case reviews, and collaboration with CDI, Revenue Cycle, and Compliance teams.

You will evaluate complex inpatient records, provide educational guidance to staff, and contribute to payment integrity and institutional quality metrics in a large academic health system.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of inpatient hospital coding experience in an academic medical center or complex acute-care setting.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignment; CMS IPPS knowledge; payer audits.

Responsibilities

• Validate accuracy and compliance of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and DRG/APR-DRG assignments.
• Conduct pre-bill and post-bill audits for high-risk and regulatory-sensitive inpatient cases.
• Provide expert guidance to coding staff and develop coding guidelines and references.
• Support denial mitigation, appeals, and collaboration with Revenue Cycle and CDI teams.
